Top 10 Indie Games of 2015

4. Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number

Bigger and better than its predecessor, Hotline Miami 2 builds on the same retro violence – oh so much violence – that made the first so successful. Whilst it didn’t have the tight level structure of the original game which led to some harsh difficulty spikes, the improved gameplay and trippy narrative more than made up for this minor shortcoming.

Like the first game, what really helps make Hotline Miami 2 such an addictive experience is the tense gameplay and pumping soundtrack that really drives you onwards in your ultraviolent quest. Challenging and gruelling, Hotline Miami 2 certainly isn’t for all, but safe to say it has secured itself as one of our favourite indie games of 2015.

3. Ori and the Blind Forest

Ori and the Blind Forest 1-min

Arguably one of the best indie titles available on Xbox One, Ori and the Blind Forest from Moon Studios blew everyone away with its gorgeous graphics and emotional storyline that made even the toughest gamer get a little teary-eyed.

Despite a few niggles with its floaty controls, we absolutely loved everything Ori had to offer, from its instantly loveable characters to incredibly intricate and detailed environments. This Metroidvania-style title is a must for any fan of platform games, and we’re pretty certain it’s set to be heralded as an all-time classic.

She'll give just about anything a go, but she's got a particular soft spot for indie adventures. If she's not gaming, she'll be building Lego, reading a thriller, watching something spooky or... asleep. She does love to sleep.
