I love Monopoly. I love Final Fantasy VII. Two things that I never thought would go together, mind, but here we are.
Merchoid, who specialise in video game merchandise, have today announced that a Final Fantasy-themed edition of the ever-popular Monopoly board game will be releasing in April 2017.
Of course, this isn’t the first video game-themed Monopoly we’ve had; recent years have given us Fallout, Zelda, Assassin’s Creed and Halo.
The Final Fantasy VII edition of Monopoly will feature favourite characters Cloud, Aeris and Sephiroth as playing pieces, amongst others, and of course a wealth of board game tiles based on our favourite FFVII locations. Will we see the Golden Saucer, Midgar, Nibelheim or Fort Condor – just to name a few?
Coming out 14 April 2017, it feels a long way off just yet. Does the date have some significance? Will this tie in with the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake, I wonder?
