Not only is Friday a day to celebrate the oncoming weekend, get a takeaway and go out for a couple of bevvies with your friends and family, for us here at GameSpew it’s time for #FreeGameFriday. That’s right Spewers; it’s the best day of the week.
This week’s Free Game Friday has been once again been surrendered by the lovely Emily in order to allow me, Becca, a quick minute to tell you folks about a game that would be a kleptomaniac’s dream, The Very Organized Thief. The Very Organized Thief is a first-person game from Redefinition Games. Your goal is exactly as it sounds, to rob the bloody hell out of someone’s home. The catch is that your thief isn’t interested in just anything, he has a specific list of items for you to look for.
The best and worst part about The Very Organized Thief is the time limit. You only have a few minutes to rummage through the house, which is two floors by the way, in order to get everything on your list and escape before the owner gets home. The list is about eight items that are found randomly throughout the house. You can’t just memorise the items locations either because they change almost every round.
If you think that this all sounds a bit too easy then it’s probably because you don’t realise how quickly the homeowner comes home and starts traipsing about looking for you. Much to my surprise, one of the first times I was caught, the owner somehow knew exactly where to find me – in their closet trying to hack into their safe. The owner’s inexplicable thief-finding ability is part of what makes getting out of the house once they get home more complicated than it should be. If you do manage to get out of the house before they catch you, you are able to cash in what you did manage to collect and you’re given a title depending on how much money you got.
The Very Organized Thief is a really fun game that you can pick up on a moment’s notice and play for a few minutes or obsess over for an hour if you’re determined to find the safe code and get away with all of the homeowner’s money. It’d make a great addition to anyone’s fun free games list. One word of advice though: watch out for that kangaroo who owns one of the houses, his right hook really packs a wallop!
