Games With Gold August 2016 Lineup

As another month draws to a close, it’s once again time to speculate and wonder what games are going to be free for us next month on Games with Gold. This month’s list has been leaked a little ahead of schedule, so we don’t have to spend quite so long guessing this time around.

August’s Games with Gold offerings on Xbox One are Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, and WWE 2k16.

On Xbox 360 (remember, these are backwards compatible on Xbox One too) we have Spelunky and Beyond Good and Evil HD.

Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is a PS3/Xbox 360 game from 2011 that was re-released onto current gen in 2014 along with the “Ultimate” tag. A hack and slash game in the same vein as Tecmo Koei’s Warriors franchise (think Samurai Warriors or Dynasty Warriors). Expect a whole lot of mindless fun!

WWE 2k16 is last year’s 2K instalment to their Wrestling franchise. With 2k17 being released in October, it’s a little out-of-date now, but a perfect time to catch up and get some moves in before the this year’s title releases.

Spelunky may be a oldie, but it’s a classic indie title that you probably should have in your collection. Exploring underground tunnels, your goal is to collect as much treasure as you can whilst defeating the many enemies that stand in your way.

Beyond Good and Evil HD is a reboot of a classic action-adventure from 2003. The graphics may be a bit dated by today’s standards, but with a healthy selection of puzzle-solving, adventuring and stealth, the gameplay is just as enjoyable as ever.

Editor in chief // Kim's been into video games since playing Dizzy on her brother's Commodore 64 as a nipper. She'll give just about anything a go, but she's got a particular soft spot for indie adventures. If she's not gaming, she'll be building Lego, reading a thriller, watching something spooky or... asleep. She does love to sleep.
