Rise of the Tomb Raider Coming to PS4 in October

Rise of the Tomb Raider 1

Xbox One owners have been revelling in the glory of Rise of the Tomb Raider since last year. With a timed exclusive deal with Microsoft, PS4 owners have had to wait to experience Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics’ latest Lara Croft adventure – but finally a release date has been annouced.

Rise of the Tomb Raider will be releasing on PS4 on 11 October, in a brand new, extended package called Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration.

The 20 Year Celebration will of course include Rise of the Tomb Raider, as well as extra content. Exclusive to the PlayStation 4 version of the game will be a brand new story chapter with VR support, entitled “Blood Ties”. The 20 Year Celebration will also include all previously released DLC, new outfits and weapons, and new co-op gameplay.

All new content will be made available to season pass owners of the Xbox One and PC version, with the season pass being updated to include the new content.

The VR-enabled DLC exclusive to PS4, Blood Ties, sees Lara explore her stately home, Croft Manor, before defending it from a zombie invasion. That’s right, forget raiding tombs: the dead is rising in Lara’s world!

A new difficulty is also being added for those true hardcore players. Called “Extreme Survivor”, Rise of the Tomb Raider‘s difficulty will be turned up to 11, with all checkpoints being taken out of the game, and save points only being available if you can forage enough supplies to craft your own campfire.
