Top 10 Highlights from EGX 2016

4. PSVR

David: “I approached PSVR as very much a skeptic of the whole virtual reality shtick. I wondered how much it would add to a game to just be able to look around with your own noggin as opposed to the trusty right-stick. I was surprised then, while playing some very early code for the as-yet unknown quantity Robinson: The Journey, to find that as I climbed a tree to escape a marauding pack/flock/herd/murder of Raptors, I was looking back down the 50-or-so foot tall tree and I could feel my usual sweaty-palmed response to heights kick in. The game had me immersed to a whole new level; a feeling of childhood dreams being fulfilled by seeing a Brachiosaurus (or similar Sauropod) grazing from the tree-tops not 10 feet away from me – it was a pure delight.”
While VR may not yet, or indeed for quite a while, be in many people’s price-range, it’s certainly a toy that we’d love to have one day and one we would encourage anyone to try.
3. Horizon: Zero Dawn

One of our best EGX 2016 moments was undoubtedly getting hands on with Guerrilla Games’ future mecha-dino epic Horizon: Zero Dawn. We all saw the E3 footage that looked too good to be true and yet we all hoped that it could be that good. Well, as far as our hands-on time with it could show, it’s as good as we all hoped and there’s still six months left for them to polish it up nicely before the March 3rd release date.
We have a full preview of Horizon: Zero Dawn already, so we won’t say too much here except: whatever is at the top of your “Most Wanted Games” list may have some new competition…
