Top 10 Highlights from EGX 2016

2. Snake Pass

Sumo Digital’s first original IP blew us away with its charm. Snake Pass is a 3D platformer putting you in the shoes of a snake… well, it would if snakes wore shoes… or if they even had feet. Ahem. Well, you control a snake – and it’s an absolute delight to play.

We’ve written a full preview of Snake Pass if you’d like to find out more, but all you need to know is that it looks absolutely beautiful with a colourful art style to rival the latest Disney/Pixar film, and we never knew controlling a snake would be so much fun. It really is. It’s set for release in Q1 2017, and it’s certainly going to be high on our radars.

1. Little Nightmares

We knew little of Little Nightmares before we sat down to preview the game, but if the epically freaky booth was anything to go by, we were going to be in for something special. Little Nightmares didn’t disappoint, and it’s quickly shot up the list to be one of our most anticipated games of 2017.

Playing as a tiny girl shrouded in a yellow raincoat, the demo of Little Nightmares had us running and sneaking through a kitchen occupied by giant, monstrous chefs. We’re not entirely sure what the story of the game is yet, but if the visuals and sound design are anything to go by, this could be one of the most surprising games of next year. Gorgeous 3D graphics bring the game to life, and the stark but masterful sound design keeps you on the edge of your seat, making this one eerie but exciting experience.
