Knights of the Eternal Throne: Trailer Unleashed

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything concerning the Star Wars games that EA have in the pipeline. DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront continues to grow with its ongoing DLC expansions (with admittedly mixed criticisms) but there hasn’t really been anything new. During E3 2016, EA presented a four-minute video reflecting on their current titles and went on to detail their plans going forward, but there were no previews or gameplay to speak of, aside from a rather promising clip that ended the showcase.

Bioware has since released their newest trailer for the next expansion pack for their MMORPG, Star Wars The Old Republic, titled Knights of the Eternal Throne. Since The Old Republic was first launched back in 2011, Bioware has a track record of delivering beautifully animated trailers with a masterful handling of storytelling. This is the fifth trailer that they have produced, and if somehow you haven’t seen them all, get yourself over to YouTube and get caught up.

Knights of the Eternal Throne is the sixth digital expansion to date and picks up after the previous expansion, Knights of the Fallen Empire. Following their victory at the Battle of Odessen, the Outlander leads the Alliance into war against Vaylin, now Empress of the Eternal Throne.

At present, the two expansions sound awfully alike but the latest will bring nine new chapters to the story surrounding the Eternal Throne. Fallen Empire was well received by the gaming community, applauded for delivering a great solo Star Wars story unlike anything seen in the core game with a great cast of characters, both old and new, but with the same old combat system that failed to bring anything new to the table.

There hasn’t been a lot of details just yet, but Knights of the Eternal Throne is looking to shake things up a bit once more with these confirmed features.

The level cap will now be raised from 65 to 70 and two new gameplay functionalities have been introduced: Galactic Command and Uprisings. In Galactic Command, players will be able to grow their influence as they fight battles with light and dark side enemies and in Uprisings, you will be able to team up with up to three allies and battle the game’s most notorious adversaries.

Knights of the Eternal Throne is due to be released December 2nd, 2016 and is FREE to all Premium players.
