Not only is Friday a day to celebrate the oncoming weekend, get a takeaway and go out for a couple of bevvies with your friends and family, for us here at GameSpew it’s time for #FreeGameFriday. That’s right Spewers; it’s the best day of the week.
I may still be in denial that Halloween is over, having still not taken my decorations down, but I know when it’s time to a break from horror games to play something a little more lighthearted. This week we’re taking a look at Trimmer Tycoon, a really funny title from Improx Games, where its your job to fulfill people’s beardy dreams in a barber shop that you run. Whether it be a pink pencil moustache or a full green beard, the customer is always right, and its up to you to follow their specification to the best of your ability.
The gameplay mechanics for Trimmer Tycoon are very simple. When someone comes into your shop you click on them to welcome them into the chair, where you will make their dreams come true. Using either an electric razor or clippers, you can slowly cut away at the hair on their faces to give them the look that they want. It’s a little tougher than it might seem because it’s hard to be precise with the tools that are given to you. The closer that you get to their ideal haircut the more money you will receive when you’re finished. Then after you’ve given them a cut you have to be sure to give them the colour that they would like as well. Using colour sliders at the bottom of the screen, you must adjust the colour of their hair until it is as close to the color that they want as possible.
Every minute or so you have to give a certain amount of money to an unknown source, what I assume is rent money for the barber shop, so you have to be quick but also efficient with every cut. If you manage to save up enough money you can start decorating your shop with plants, pictures, hat racks and more. Decorating makes customers more patient and more relaxed. If you can manage to save up $2,000, while also saving enough to pay rent every minute or so, you can upgrade to a larger shop and hire more barbers so you aren’t simply running the place all by yourself. Be fast, be careful, and overall have fun: those are the rules of your barber shop in Trimmer Tycoon.
That’s it for this week’s Free Game Friday everyone. Trimmer Tycoon is a really fun game that you can pick up and play for just a few minutes or get sucked in for longer periods of time if you’re determined to make your barber shop the best it can be. If you decide to give it a shot let us know how you get on in the comments below or on Twitter using #FreeGameFriday, we really love hearing from you. Until then, here’s to a great weekend and see you next week!
