It’s hardly a surprise, considering the ten-year wait and the massive amount of hype surrounding it, but today Square Enix have announced that Final Fantasy XV has sold more than six million copies since launch.
Five million of those copies were sold on day one of the game’s launch, so another million copies have been sold throughout December and the holiday period.
It’s a pretty impressive figure, but nowhere near record breaking – Grand Theft Auto 5 sold over 11 million copies on day one, and had sold over 28 million copies after six weeks. Still, Square Enix seem pleased with the sales so far and have already promised to continue supporting the game by adding in more story and end-game content.
The first free update, the Holiday Pack, is available for download now (a premium version is also available). Anyone who has downloaded this will get access to the in-game event ‘Moogle Chocobo Carnival’ that starts on 24th January. More DLC, both free and paid, is expected to follow in the coming months.
