It might be over a year since Ubisoft released Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege to mixed reception, but they’ve been dedicated to supporting and improving the game ever since.
Operation Velvet Shell is a free update for all owners of the game, including a brand new map, two new operators and an update to the navigation interface.
The new map, taking place on the coast of the Mediterranean island of Ibiza, will allow you to take the role of two Spanish operators: Mira and Jackal. Both have their own specialist skills and expertise, allowing for different styles of gameplay. Mira’s speciality is creating black mirrors, near-impenetrable one way windows that can be built into barricades or walls. Jackal, on the other hand, is an expert in tracking, and can track enemy’s footprints to reveal their locations.
If you’re a Year 2 pass holder, both of these operators will be instantly available and are exclusive for seven days. Without the season pass, they’ll be unlockable using in-game currency from 14th February. The new map is free for all players.
