Dead Rising: Case Zero and Case West Added to Xbox Backwards Compatibility

Dead Rising: Case Zero and Dead Rising: Case West are the latest titles to have been added to Microsoft’s Xbox Backwards Compatibility programme.

Case Zero and Case West were originally released on the Xbox 360 and are, respectively, a standalone mini prequel and mini sequel to Dead Rising 2, Capcom’s zombie-themed action game. Both star the game’s protagonist Chuck Green, the latter featuring a cameo from fan favourite, journalist Frank West.

Dead Rising 2, however, is notable by its absence. Even though Case Zero and Case West use the same engine, the Xbox 360 version of this game does not currently work on the Xbox One. This may have something do with the fact that Capcom recently released an Xbox One native version of the game,  available individually or bundled with Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record.

Meet the Robinsons and Cars 2: The Video Game, both based on Disney animations, have also been added added and, like Case Zero and Case West, are playable on the Xbox One. At the time of writing, over 300 Xbox 360 games can be played on Microsoft’s newest console, with more titles being added on a semi-regular basis.

For the full list of backwards compatible Xbox 360 games, see the official list on Major Nelson’s blog here, which is kept up-to-date as new titles are added.

He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
