Not only is Friday a day to celebrate the oncoming weekend, get a takeaway and go out for a couple of bevvies with your friends and family, for us here at GameSpew it’s time for #FreeGameFriday. That’s right Spewers; it’s the best day of the week.

For this week’s Free Game Friday, we’re taking a look at a brutal side-scroller action game called Bloody Walls.

Bloody Walls is very simple on the surface, but the more you look around the more you realise how complicated it really is. It’s the end of the world – and the entire population of Earth has been overrun by zombies. You start off on level one of a ten-storey building and it’s your job to clear out each level. There’s a catch though – there’s always a catch – each level that gets harder and harder as you fight off waves of the undead.

Between each wave of zombies, you’re able to go back to the first floor and resupply. You start off with just a machine gun but as you continue further into the game more items become available – including grenades and land mines. Each weapon has time between each shot so you can’t simply spam your gun, which makes the first few levels very difficult. Along with this, the first level of the building houses people that will give you short side quests such as finding a teddy bear or a med kit on one of the levels below. Giving people the items they ask for results in them gifting you items that can help you on your runs.

If you manage to get through all ten levels of the game Bloody Walls has different difficulty settings that you can play. I didn’t try them out because I still haven’t beat all ten levels on the normal difficulty – but for those of you that like dying over and over (here’s looking at you, Dark Souls fans), the harder difficulty could be for you. Bloody Walls also includes two purchasable DLC packs that add Hardcore x2 mode and Hardocre x2 Extended mode. Hardcore x2 only allows certain weapons loadouts that you can use in the game if you really want to be challenged.

That’s it for this week’s Free Game Friday, folks. Bloody Walls is a really cool, tough-as-nails action game that is sure to impress those that like a big challenge. If nothing else, the dramatic music and cutscenes will keep you entertained for sure. If you decide to give Bloody Walls a try, let us know how far you get on your first run in the comments below or on Twitter using #FreeGameFriday, we love hearing from you! Here’s to a great, not zombie filled, weekend and see you next week!
