Microsoft Unveils New Mid-Range ‘Tech’ Controller Series

Ever since the Pro controller came out, I thought that Xbox One needed something in the middle. The build quality of a Pro, but without the interchangeable buttons.

Looks like Microsoft has answered my whim in the form of their new range of ‘Tech’ controllers, which has been unveiled today over on the Xbox blog.

The first in the range is the Recon Tech, with a grey military-inspired design and gold detailing on the front. It’ll be available from 25th April and will retail at $69.99. No UK price has been announced just yet, but £59.99 seems like a reasonable guess.

Whether or not the Tech controller series will be quite as good quality as the Pro controllers remains to be seen. They do however feature rubberised grips on the back as well as “premium finishes”, so it’s certainly a step up from the standard range of controllers.

What do you think about Microsoft’s ‘Tech’ range of controllers? Does the Xbox One need more models of controller? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
