Boil ’em, mash ’em, stick ’em in a stew – oh and explore the vastness of space with them, of course!
If you’ve ever dreamed of piloting your own spaceship and controlling a bunch of delicious – er, I mean hardworking – crew members, then Holy Potatoes! We’re in Space?! is perfect for you.
Holy Potatoes! We’re in Space?! is the much anticipated (definitely by me) follow-up game by Daylight Studios, the creators of Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?!. In their new title you play as sisters Cassie and Fay as they venture to dozens of different planets in search of their grandfather Jiji. There’s a lot that’s different between the two games, but you’re sure to see some familiar faces while you play.
Holy Potatoes! We’re in Space?! plays like a turn based strategy game. You control Cassie and Fay’s spaceship as they venture to dangerous areas of space, getting attacked by a variety of crooks, thieves, and what I can only imagine should be called space pirates. Using the weapons on your ship, you have to decide the best course of action: whether to fight – taking out the enemy weapons and destroying them or making them pay for attacking you if you can – or run if that’s the safer course of action. There’s tonnes of strange weapons you can use throughout the game – and since taters gonna tate, you’ll have to use plenty but you’ll never get bored discovering it all.
The charm of Holy Potatoes! We’re in Space is its extreme randomness. Every time you think you’ve seen everything you’ll find a large fluffy space cat to appreciate. Every planet and galaxy is different, much like the highly anticipated No Man’s Sky – but ten times better because potatoes. Yes, I said it; don’t decap-otato me (sorry). Aside from the adorable characters and theme, the story is intriguing, the music is fantastic, and there’s tons to you that you’ll find yourself sucked in for hours. How a-peel-ing!
If you like turn based strategy games like FTL: Faster Than Light you should definitely give Holy Potatoes! We’re in Space?! a shot if you’re looking for something a little less serious. If nothing else the, humour is well worth it. I’ve sank dozens of hours intoHoly Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! and I have a feeling this title will be no different.
I’m trying to think of another potato pun to finish up but I can’t. I totally mashed this whole thing up, didn’t I?
