Cats are little maniacs – I should know, I live with one that is definitely more than a few sandwiches short of a picnic. They are, however, also unbearably cute.
That’s why, when an email dropped into our inbox asking us if we’d like to check out a preview build of Cat Quest, indie developer The Gentlebros’ upcoming action-RPG, I jumped at the chance. And boy, am I glad I did.
At this point, I’ve only played about an hour of Cat Quest, but already I am in love with it. Its visuals are charming and colourful, its music is wonderful, and the gameplay is gloriously old-school and addictive. You run around as a sickeningly adorable little feline adventurer who’s lost his sister, completing quests and obtaining loot, all with the aim of growing stronger so that you can defeat the white moggie who’s behind your misfortune. It’s simple, but it works, drawing you in and holding your attention like a vice.
Honestly, I had to pull myself away from Cat Quest to write this and show you guys and gals some gameplay footage which you can watch below.
If it doesn’t warm your heart, I don’t know what will. Keep your eyes peeled in the next few days for a more detailed preview from me.
Cat Quest is set to arrive on 8th August on PC, and later in the year for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
