Released in April for PC and PS4, What Remains of Edith Finch will soon be available for Xbox One users.
Very soon in fact; the gorgeous game from Annapurna Interactive and Giant Sparrow will release on Microsoft's home console next week, 19th July.
It's fantastic news for Xbox One owners because What Remains of Edith Finch is an absolutely brilliant game. But then I'm bound to say that, seeing as I reviewed it with a very rare 10/10 on its initial release. From my original review:
“What Remains of Edith Finch is a story like no other; both very grounded in reality, yet at times other-worldly beyond imagination. It’s touching and thought-provoking; daring to explore dark subject matters rarely delved into by video games. It may only take a few short hours to complete, but every moment is so packed with significance that it hardly matters.”
Telling the story of the titular Edith Finch, a young woman in her late teens, What Remains of Edith Finch is a story-driven adventure unlike anything else I've played. As Edith, you return to her childhood home - a place filled with secrets, mysteries and sadness - as you try to come to terms with the loss of your family.
If you enjoyed the likes of Firewatch, Gone Home or Dear Esther, What Remains of Edith Finch is a game to challenge them all. If you're yet to try it and own an Xbox One, now's the perfect time.
It'll be available digitally on the Xbox One store on Wednesday 19th July, priced $19.99. Check out the brand new trailer below:
