A short while ago I told you about Fantasy Strike, a new fighting game by ex-Street Fighter developer David Sirlin.
Since then I've actually had some hands-on time with the game, and I have to say, it shows a hell of a lot of promise. For one, it looks absolutely wonderful, with a cast of interesting characters making it stand out from the crowd. But more importantly, it plays well too.
It does exactly what it sets out to do - keep things simple - and because of that it's wonderfully easy to just pick up and play. You can tell there's still depth in there though for those who want to master it, which will undoubtedly keep ardent fighting games fans going back for more. Anyway, you don't have to take my word for it, you can try it for yourself this weekend to see what it's all about.
Running between 11th - 14th August, Fantasy Strike's free weekend is open to all. All you need to do is go to the game's official website, download the appropriate package for your operating system, unzip it, and then run the Fantasy Strike app. Of course, the app will only work while the free weekend is live.
During Fantasy Strike's free weekend you'll have access to eight characters, local and online play, and a fully featured training mode. Honestly, I cannot urge you enough to give it a go. It really is shaping up to be rather good. And if you do give it a go and end up enjoying it as much as I have, remember you can support its crowdfunding campaign to help finish it.
