If you've played the first chapter of Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth, you'll know what a treat it is.

When I reviewed the game back in August, I was taken aback by just how wonderful it was. Based on a 1000-odd page novel about a medieval cathedral, I had low expectations, but what the game delivered — gorgeous visuals, interesting characters and solid point-and-click gameplay — really won me over.

I've been waiting with bated breath since then for news of the next episode landing, and finally, that time is now. Well, for PC gamers at least. Volume 2, Sowing the Wind, will be available on Steam next Wednesday, 13th December. It isn't landing on Xbox One and PS4, however, until the end of January 2018.

The good news is, though, if you already own episode one on any of those formats, the forthcoming episodes will automatically unlock for free. The third and final instalment is set for release in May 2018.

If you're yet to play The Pillars of the Earth — and I strongly advise that you do — the game will be 50% off for 48 hours when volume two launches on 13th December. Grab it!
