Building up your kingdom, Evermore, is a big part of Ni no Kuni 2.
And in order to expand it, you need to gain new citizens. Some citizens of Evermore you’ll gain simply by playing through the story, but the majority of the kingdom’s growth is found in completing sidequests. While most are purely optional, you will need to complete a fair amount of them as you play, as Evermore’s steady growth is important in completing the game.
There are a number of ways to get more citizens in Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom, and following our quick, handy guide will have you on the right track.
Pick up side quests in towns by looking for exclamation marks on the mini map
Not every side quest in Ni no Kuni 2 will reward you with a new citizen for Evermore, but a lot of them will. Side quests are signified on the minimap by an exclamation mark, and will be given to you by townsfolk. When you approach them to talk to them, their speech bubble will be blue instead of white, letting you know that they have a quest to give you.
When you accept a quest, you don’t need to complete it right away, and you can change your active quest at any time by heading into the Quests menu. From that menu, you can see which quests will grant you a new citizen by the symbol that appears at the side of it.
Every time you complete a chapter of the game, new quests will pop up in each town, so it’ll pay to revisit some past locations to see if there is anyone new who needs your help.
Look out for the “Swift Solutions” mission guy
When you visit Hydropolis for the first time, you’ll see a fellow in the town who works for “Swift Solutions”. Talking to him will give you a range of small missions — collect X amount of items, kill X monsters, etc. The first time you talk to him, there’s probably a good chance you’ve already got the required items to complete some of his missions. Pick up the missions, and turn them into him.
You’ll be rewarded with a unique kind of currency that can only be used at Swift Solutions. You can use them to get some rare items from him, or you can also use them to get hints about new Evermore citizens. This is the best way to spend your Swift Solutions rewards — it won’t give you the citizens straight away, but it’ll add new quests to your list, and completing those quests by talking to the relevant townsfolk will add them as citizens of Evermore.
