Your main weapons in Ni no Kuni 2 might be melee, but every character also has a designated ranged weapon for attacking from afar, too.
Every character has a specific type of ranged weapon that’s assigned to them. Evan, for example, has a magic wand. Roland has a gun, and Tani has a bow. You’ll find new types of those items as you play, but each character is stuck with using the same type.
While getting up close to enemies and slashing them with your sword or beating down on them with a hammer is the best way to enjoy combat, sometimes keeping a distance can be helpful. If you’re wondering how to use ranged weapons in Ni no Kuni 2, we’ve got you covered.
Using your ranged weapon in combat is a simple case of hitting R1 (or your right shoulder button if you’re playing with a controller on PC). Tapping R1 will fire a standard ranged attack, but if you hold down the button for a short period before releasing, you’ll release a charged shot. Charged ranged shots do more damage than a standard shot.
Bear in mind that all ranged weapons in Ni no Kuni 2 use MP – one shot costs 1MP, so it quickly depletes. Once you’ve used all your MP, you can still fire your ranged weapon, but you won’t do as much damage, so you can’t solely rely on using ranged attacks in battle.
