Previously only available on PlayStation Vita, Ys: Memories of Celceta is one of the best games in the series. And now, it’s available on PC.
It’ll no doubt come as music to the ears of Ys fans who have never owned one of Sony’s ill-fated handhelds, especially considering that as ports go, it’s a good one.
On PlayStation Vita, Ys: Memories of Celceta was superb. In fact, it made our list of the top 40 games available on the format. On PC, it obviously shows its handheld game roots, but clear improvements have been made to the visuals, and the gameplay feels as sharp as ever.
There are a whole of host of graphical settings to tinker with, and though even at max settings Ys: Memories of Celceta isn’t really going to visually impress, you’ll be thankful that it isn’t the eyesore it could have been. What really matters is performance, and this port provides it.
I was able to run the game at a solid 60 frames per second at max settings and 4K resolution on a GTX 1060, giving plenty of room to obtain good performance on a wide range of configurations. The port seems to be free of any troublesome bugs too; I haven’t encountered any playing the game to date.
Anyone that’s familiar with the Ys games will know what to expect from Ys: Memories of Celceta: fun action RPG gameplay with multiple playable characters, an interesting story, and a brilliant soundtrack. If that sounds good to you, be sure to check it out now that it has made the leap to PC.
