Released last week on Nintendo Switch, Yuso is an adorable game about clearing the screen of cute, little blobs.
Despite being concerned with matching blobs of colour together, Yuso isn’t a match three puzzler; it’s much more about logic and problem-solving. You need at least two blobs of the same colour together to clear them, and popping one will also remove any of the same colour in its direct vicinity.
It quickly gets fiendish, though. You’ll need to think carefully to avoid leaving one blob stranded by itself. And as you progress through the levels, new elements are thrown in. Bombs, sleeping blobs that need waking up before you can clear them, more colours and complex patterns. It’s no walk in the park, but it’s a hell of a lot of fun to play.
There are over 80 levels in total. Of course, some harder levels will require some serious trial and error, but when you know what you’re doing, each can be completed in a number of seconds. The joy of Yuso is in practising, and learning what techniques work best. It’s the perfect game to pick up for a few minutes at a time, cracking a couple of levels during the adverts of your favourite TV programme.
For £5.99, it’s well worth every penny. It’s also available on Steam and mobile – but it feels made for Switch.
