1Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is an open world role playing game, released in 2014 to high acclaim. Being based in the world of J.R.R Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, Shadow of Mordor already had many fans upon its announcement. You play as Talion, a ranger who becomes bound to an elf named Lord Celebrimbor and together the two set out to get revenge for the death of their loved ones.
Shadow of Mordor was praised for its open world, combat, and Nemesis system. The Nemesis system provides a pool of unique adversaries that develop traits as you encounter them, something that had never been seen before. Fans of Skyrim will love Shadow of Mordor’s open world elements and will likely get engrossed enough in the world to forget about the 40th cave you weren’t able to explore yet in Skyrim. And, if you can’t get enough from the first, its sequel Shadow of War is equally as fantastic.
