One of the reasons you’re possibly thinking of picking Soulcalibur VI up is undoubtedly because of its character creation options.
Character creation has been a stalwart feature of the series for a while now, and even though Soulcalibur VI does have it, it’s a little underwhelming. There are no additional fighting styles beyond those of the characters who make up the game’s roster, and compared to previous entries in the series there aren’t a great deal of items to customise your fighters with. There are, however, many races to choose from this time around. Take a look at the video below to get an idea of what you can do when creating a female human.
As you can see, there isn’t a massive range of armour and clothing to adorn your creation with. Though depending on which race and gender you choose, there may be different customisation items available. Still, there’s enough variety overall to have some fun and create something unique, especially when you start to fiddle around with the extra items and pattern and colour options.
It should be noted that further customisation options are planned to arrive as DLC, so if you’re prepared to spend a bit more money, character creation could eventually become much more elaborate. New characters, such as the already available Tira, also bring new fighting styles and items into the mix, further expanding your options.
Available now, Soulcalibur VI is pretty much the best single-player fighting game out there. Give our review a read to find out why. And if you do pick it up, here’s how you unlock Inferno for use in the game’s Arcade, Versus and Training modes.
