How to Beat the Snake Boss in Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom

Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom 1 (1)

If you’re playing Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, the snake boss might just be the first one that will really stump you.

Unlike earlier bosses, you can’t just freely hit it in between avoiding its attacks. Instead, you need timing. And strategy.

When the fight with the snake boss starts, it will pop up from one of the three holes in the ground and spit poison at you. To deal with it, try to keep your distance and throw boomerangs at it. Depending on how far away you are, you’ll hit the snake at least two times. After taking a set amount of damage, the snake will start popping out of holes in the ceiling too. When it does so, simply jump and perform a downward slam attack on the ground to make the snake fall down, then you can hit it.

Once one of the snake’s health bars has been depleted, the second stage of the boss fight will begin. This time, the snake will sit on a moving platform at the top of the screen, sometimes moving around it to spit poison at you. To make the snake vulnerable to your attacks, you need to jump and perform a downward slam attack on the ground to make the beehive at the top of the screen land on it. If successful, the snake will fall to the floor covered in honey, enabling you to get some hits in. If you miss the platform with the beehive, quickly jump into the water on the right hand side of the arena to avoid the bees.

Eventually, the snake will get wise to your tactics. Once it starts moving onto the underside of the platform more frequently, you’ll need to use your lightning magic to turn the platform upside down before slamming the floor with your jumping attack to bring down the beehive. You’ll need to get the timing just right though. If you run out of lightning magic, kill the enemies that the snake sometimes releases to get more.

Hold your nerve and time your lightning magic just right and Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom‘s first troublesome boss will be defeated. Although there are many more to come. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
