Armageddon and cars? Sign me up for Carmageddon.
THQ Nordic announced today that the acquisition of intellectual property “Carmageddon” was finalised with Stainless Games. The acquisition is being handled by THQ Nordic AB and daily operations including sales and distribution, evaluation of sequels, and new content will be done completely via THQ Nordic GmbH in Vienna, Austria.
Carmageddon is a car combat game that released for PC in 1997. It was later ported to other platforms and was followed by a series of spin-off titles, the most recent being Carmageddon: Max Damage in 2016. In Carmageddon, players race against NPCs in a variety of exciting races where you win by either completing the race first, damaging other cars, or killing pedestrians. No doubt now the IP is under a new owner, we’ll see some new games from the franchise start to spring up soon.
