As you make your way through Resident Evil 2, you might pick up a portable safe or two.
These handheld devices store small but valuable items, but opening them up to obtain the goodies inside can be a bit tricky. And to make matters worse, the code you need to enter to open up each portable safe you find is seemingly randomised.
Once you got the knack, opening up a portable safe is pretty easy though. Especially if you have a pen and a piece of paper at hand. Simply select a portable safe in your inventory to interact with it, then press each of the eight buttons on the front of it, making a note of which light each one turns green. Once you’ve done that, simply press the buttons in order to form a green circle.
It doesn’t matter which light you start with, but once you’ve lit one up, you need to then light the one next to it in an anti-clockwise motion. Then, keep going until they’re all lit. Get one wrong and all the lights will go out, forcing you to start again from scratch. If you’re good at remembering things, you can even do it without using a pen and paper. Like we said, it’s easy when you know how.
You won’t find many portable safes in Resident Evil 2, and their solutions are randomised, but at least when you find them you’ll now have no trouble opening them like a pro.
