After being announced at The Game Award in December, Mortal Kombat 11 got shown off in detail for the first time last night.
The crux of it all is that Mortal Kombat 11 appears to be well and truly brutal. And that’s a good thing. Mortal Kombat X was a great looking game that could make you wince at times due to its graphic X-Ray attacks and gory Fatalities, but Mortal Kombat 11 is taking things to the next level.
As you’d expect, many fan-favourite characters are set to return such as Baraka, Raiden, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero. Sonya Blade is also making the cut, and she’s going to be voiced by UFC Champion turned WWE superstar Ronda Rousey. Of course, there are going to be some new faces too, with the title introducing the series’ first female boss character. Kronika is the Keeper of Time who’s central to the main story of Mortal Kombat 11, and Geras, her loyal servant, will also be playable
A gear system akin to the one seen in Injustice 2 will feature, allowing players to customise their fighters like never before. More important though is that there will be new mechanics introduced, such as the Fatal Blow system which will allow players to try and turn a fight around when at low health. Needless to say, we’re excited to find out more about Mortal Kombat 11 as we get closer to its launch.
Before Mortal Kombat 11 launches for PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC on 23rd April, however, some players can sample the game early on 28th March by taking part in a beta test. Anyone who preorders the game on PS4 or Xbox One will receive access, while preordering on any format secures Shao-Khan as a playable character.
