It’s safe to say that with Bungie splitting from Activision and acquiring the rights to self-publish Destiny games from hereon, the future of Destiny 2 is more uncertain then ever.
In November, Bungie laid out its plans for the game via a roadmap, however, and has since stated that it intends to stick to it. So, if you want to see what Destiny 2 has in store for you until well into 2019, take a look at the roadmap below.
As you can see from the roadmap, Bungie has decided to take a seasonal approach to Destiny 2 content. As such, there are many free updates to come, and while some of them will require Destiny 2: Forsaken, many will also be available for vanilla Destiny 2 players. For example, there are a trio of Iron Banner events planned between now and the end of August that will be available to all Destiny 2 players. But to make use of the planned power increases in March and June, you’ll need to have Destiny 2: Forsaken.
The roadmap also displays the Annual Pass content that is set to be released until the end of August. Finished everything the Black Armory has to offer? You’ll be ready for the new activities that Joker’s Wild provides in March, then. And July and August have content updates that are redacted. Just what will they be?
Of course, events and content are subject to change – nothing is ever truly set in stone – but the roadmap gives Destiny 2 players an idea of what to expect.
