Borderlands 3 might have finally been revealed, but we haven’t actually seen it in action yet.
That’s set to change in a little over two weeks, however, with Gearbox announcing that a gameplay reveal event will take place on 1st May.
In the meantime, fans have been urged to take a closer look at the box art for the game. Revealed on 3rd April, it’s already been ascertained that the box art hides a SHIFT code on its guns. Redeeming the code 5B3BJ-XZWFW-T3KRZ-JBJTB-6WST9 on the Borderlands website or in-game while playing Borderlands 2 grants access to an exclusive skin for Maya as well as 5 Golden Keys. Morse code on either side of the box art has also previously been translated, revealing the messages “Where is the first Vault Hunter?” and “Who is the Destroyer?”
Now, another code has been found and deciphered. In the bottom right-hand corner of the box art is a string of numbers. By assigning letters to them , i.e 1=A, 2=B and so on, it reads “We don’t speak of Sanctuary 2”.
Do the messages actually mean anything? Possibly. Are there more of them hidden in the Borderlands 3 box art? Probably. One of the roses has the word Sirens written on it, which could be a clue to something. All we know for certain is that we’re stoked that we’re going to be able to see Borderlands 3 in action soon, and that we’re suckers when it comes to a treasure hunt.
Anyway, take a look at the tweet announcing the Borderlands 3 gameplay reveal event below. And while you’re at it, why not download the box art from the link and take a closer look at it yourself. We want to know all of its secrets.
