World War Z has just released, and it’s chock-full of zombies. But how long is it? How long does it take to beat the game?
World War Z may be licensed from the 2013 movie of the same name starring Brad Pitt (which itself had very little to do with the book it’s based on) but it borrows heavily from Left 4 Dead, the co-op Xbox 360/PC zombie shooter. And like Left 4 Dead, it’s intended to be replayed multiple times, both on your own and with other players.
World War Z isn’t the type of game that’s designed to be run through in one sitting. It’s designed to be enjoyed in small chunks; a couple of missions at a time.
But if you do decide to tackle the game in one go, you should expect to spend around four or five hours with it.
Exactly how long World War Z will take to complete will depend on a few different factors. The game has a number of difficulties to choose from, and even on Easy mode, hordes of zombies can still be quite a challenge at times. Depending on the skill level of your team, each of the game’s eleven missions should take around 15 to 30 minutes to complete, with some being a little longer (and trickier) than others.
However, if you crank the difficulty up it’s likely to take you much longer. Should your entire squad be killed, you’ll have to start your current mission all over again. And trust us, it does happen.
If you’re playing by yourself, you may whizz through each mission a little quicker as you have no teammates to wait on or try to direct.
World War Z is a game best enjoyed in shorter bursts. Settle in for a couple of missions at a time, and enjoy shooting your way through literal mountains of zombies.
