As you explore Mortal Kombat 11‘s Krypt, you’ll discover many chests that can only be opened by spending hearts.
At the time of writing it’s usually 250 hearts that are required, and while the rewards are of good quality, the price seems a little steep. As you probably already know, obtaining 250 hearts isn’t very easy.
Hearts, like most of Mortal Kombat 11‘s currencies, can be obtained in numerous ways. You can get them as rewards in the Towers of Time, for example, or for completing challenges. You even get a large number given to you for free the first time you enter the Krypt. There are some things you can do to purposefully increase the number of hearts you have though.
Performing fatalities and Brutalities on your enemies is one way to gain hearts. You’ll gain one heart for every fatality or Brutality you perform. You can also earn hearts in the Krypt by using the Spear of Hanzo Hasashi.
You can find the Spear of Hanzo Hasashi in The Armory when exploring the Krypt. Simply find the lift that takes you down to Goro’s Lair in the main area of the Krypt then look for a pathway just to the right of Goro’s Throne. Once you have the spear, you’ll find you can you can use it to interact with certain objects in the environment, and that includes the bodies you see hanging around.
Use the Spear of Hanzo Hasashi on the bodies by pressing the button that pops up on screen and you’ll pull them towards you, ripping them in half when they get within grabbing distance. And as a reward, you’ll be rewarded with a small number of hearts.
Honestly, collecting hearts is a slow process. If you want to open some of the most rewarding chests in Mortal Kombat 11‘s Krypt though, they’re worth farming.
