Are you thinking about buying World War Z but are wondering whether you can play it solo? Read on.

The latest zombie game to hit PC and consoles is World War Z. Based on the 2013 film of the same name, its gameplay is so heavily inspired by Left 4 Dead that you could slap the Left 4 Dead name on it and no-one would notice the difference.

And, just like Left 4 Dead, while World War Z is designed to be played co-operatively in a team, you can play it on your own. Here’s everything you need to know about playing World War Z alone.

Starting a single player game of World War Z is simple. On the main menu, choose the co-op campaign option to begin your game. You’ll then be asked if you want to play online or offline. Choose “offline”.

Your teammates will now be filled in by three computer-controller characters, so you’re not entirely on your own. But hopefully the CPU will be better behaved than those human players that simply refuse to head to the damn marker when they’re supposed to.

It does get tricky though – so if you do decide to head out into the zombie-infested world by yourself, you might want to think about turning the difficulty down. Those dead folks are fast. Happy zombie slaying!
