Kingdom Hearts 3 Gets Harder Difficulty in Critical Mode

Kingdom Hearts 3 2 (1)

Kingdom Hearts 3 a bit too easy for you?

Well, Square Enix has some good news: as of today, Kingdom Hearts 3 has a new patch, adding in Critical Mode.

Critical Mode is additional to the modes already available in Kingdom Hearts 3, making Sora and co.’s journey through the worlds of Disney tougher than they’ve ever been.

It’s not for the faint-hearted, it would seem. Critical Mode halves your party’s maximum HP and MP (health and magic meters), and the amount of times you’re able to perform situational magic attacks and commands is less frequent.

However, the new mode also allows for Sora to perform some new abilities. But with a loss of 50 per cent of your health and magic, it means that Critical Mode is only for the bravest keyblade wielders out there. I’m not sure I’ll be tackling it any time soon. I have no shame.

The new update to Kingdom Hearts 3 also allows players to carry over previous Keyblades into a new game. Any Keyblade carried through to a new game will default to its original strength, but it means you can use late-game Keyblades at the beginning of a new playthrough.

The update is available now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
