Samurai Shodown Launching on Consoles in June

Samurai Shodown (1)

Mark June 25th in your calendar if you’re into fighting games, folks, as that’s when Samurai Shodown hits PS4 and Xbox One.

A prequel to the original Samurai Shodown released in 1993, er, Samurai Shodown will feature new characters and new modes when it launches.

Alongside familiar faces such as Haohmaru will be newcomers such as Darli Dagger and Wu-Ruixiang, presenting new gameplay opportunities. And on the mode front, not only will Samurai Shodown let you follow each character’s journey via a Story Mode, but there’s also a Dojo Mode, too.

In Dojo Mode, you’ll be able to fight against your own AI avatar that learns as you play. You’ll also be able to download other players’ AI ghosts. Samurai Shodown‘s developer hopes this mode will prove to be a great place to develop your skills, while also providing fresh challenges. All the usual modes will feature too, of course, such as training and online.

If you need any more reason to pick up Samurai Shodown at launch, it has been revealed that early adopters will be able to pick up the game’s season pass for free. Set to include four new fighters, anyone who buys the digital or physical version of the game on PS4 or Xbox One has until 30th June to get in on the offer.

Samurai Shodown will also release on Switch and PC later this year. Check out the latest trailer for the game below.
