September is pretty packed with games that we’re eager to get our grubby little mitts on, and now there’s one more to add to the pile: River City Girls.
Set for launch on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC on 5th September, River City Girls is a colourful side-scrolling beat ’em up developed by WayForward.
The latest entry in the River City franchise, two players can team up and take control of Kyoko and Misako as they fight their way across the city to rescue their boyfriends. There are six regions of River City to fight through overall, and along the way you’ll encounter some familiar faces if you’re a fan of the series.
You’ll be able to dispatch enemies with combos, counters, throws and special attacks in River City Girls, and as you battle you might even pick up a side quest or two. You’ll probably want to complete them, as the game will have a levelling system that allows you to get stronger as you gain experience. Stat boosting items can also be bought from a shop, as well as food and new abilities. And did we mention that you can wield weapons and recruit enemies that you’ve defeated to fight for you?
Honestly, we have high hopes for River City Girls. It looks great, and the teaser trailer below has great music. Give it a watch.
