Bookbound Brigade is a Cute 2D Metroidvania Filled With Your Favourite Literary Heroes

Bookbound Brigade

Ever wanted to defeat monsters as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz? How about battle demons as King Arthur? Looks like Bookbound Brigade might be the game for you.

Launching later this year, Bookbound Brigade from developer Digital Tales and publisher Intragames is a 2D side-scrolling adventure packed full of heroes from history and literature. In it, the likes of Queen Victoria, Sun Wukong, Robin Hood and Nikola Tesla will join forces to avenge an evil that’s taking over the world.

Like any good Metroidvania, Bookbound Brigade‘s gameplay will centre around acquiring new skills and levelling up your heroes. New abilities will allow you to backtrack and access new areas.

As its name might suggest though, Bookbound Brigade doesn’t focus on one central hero; instead, you’ll be playing as a party – sorry, brigade – of different characters. Each of them will bring their own unique skills and abilities to the table, while adding more firepower to the fight.

There’s no set release date yet, but Bookbound Brigade is scheduled to release at some point this year on PC, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. If you happen to be at Gamescom next month, you’ll be able to get hands-on with the game on the show floor.

Give the trailer a watch below. If the promise of meeting your favourite historical and fictional heroes along the way isn’t enough to win you over, perhaps its beautiful hand-drawn art style might be.
