Wreckfest Gets a Console Release Date

Wreckfest 2-min

While Wreckfest has been well received on PC since its release last year, developer Bugbear wanted a little more time to get the console version up to scratch.

It’s commendable, and now Bugbear must feel like its ready as a release date has finally been set. Wreckfest will launch on PS4 and Xbox One on 27th August. If you like causing vehicular destruction, mark that date in your calendar.

“We’ve improved the PC version from 2018 tremendously” states Janne Alanenpää, CEO and Creative Director of Bugbear Entertainment. The PS4 and Xbox One versions of Wreckfest will apparently launch with new cars, tracks, customisation options and more. Worry not though PC owners, the PC version of Wreckfest will also receive a huge update on the same day that the console versions launch, probably adding in most, if not all, of the new content.

Both standard and deluxe version of Wreckfest will be available when it launches on console. The standard version will retail for £34.99/$39.99, while the deluxe edition will retail for £54.99/$59.99 and include the game’s season pass. The digital deluxe edition of the game will also grant one day early access, while anyone who preorders any version, digitally or physically, will unlock the exclusive Bandit Ripper V8.

Wreckfest‘s season pass will include 20 new cars, 20 special roof decorations and additional car customisation options such as armour and rims. The content will be released piecemeal alongside other free content updates.

You can watch a release date trailer for the console versions of Wreckfest below, and the game is now available to preorder from retailers such as Amazon.
