If you’re a fan of grand space adventures, we’ve some great news for you: Everspace 2 is in development!
The not-so-great news? It’s not releasing until 2021.
OK, in reality, 2021 is only 16 months away, but it sounds like some futuristic era far out of reach. Or is that just me?
While it might be quite a wait, it looks like Everspace 2 will be quite a treat for fans of the series. Just like the first game, it’s an open world space shooter built around RPG progression. This time, though, its world is larger, with many more player ships and “significantly enhanced” storytelling.
Before its full release in 2021, however, Everspace 2 will be landing on Steam via early access. That’s currently slated for the second half of 2020, so perhaps you won’t have to wait quite as long after all.
The game’s developer, Rockfish Games, is planning to launch a Kickstarter campaign to support the development of Everspace 2. It plans to launch on 9th September, and will have a funding goal of $500,000 (£412,000). Stretch goals will be introduced, too, to allow the studio to increase the scope of the game if possible. The main goal of the Kickstarter, however, is to allow the community to be involved in the development process throughout.
After its stint in early access, it’s set to release simultaneously on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. You can check out the trailer below.
