The Dragon Heart is a valuable item in Remnant: From the Ashes, as it allows you to heal without using a consumable.
Given to you by Reggie early into Remnant: From the Ashes as a gift, the Dragon Heart allows you to restore your health with the push of a button. By default you can use it three times between activating checkpoints which replenish its charges. If you progress far enough into the game and collect the required materials, however, it can be upgraded to allow for more uses.
To be able to upgrade the Dragon Heart in Remnant: From the Ashes, you must first rescue the Root Mother. You’ll find her as you progress through the game’s first area, and after defending her in a church, she’ll return to Ward 13 to rest. Go talk to her in Ward 13 and you’ll find that she has the ability to upgrade your Dragon Heart. Though she requires some resources to do so.
Scrap and Lumenite Crystals are required to upgrade the Dragon Heart, which are both easy enough to get. Just kill enemies and you’ll obtain plenty. You also need a Simulacrum, however, which are hard to find. You’ll need to scour every nook and cranny as you explore, and complete any quests that you find.
Once you have a Simulacrum and enough scrap and Lumenite Crystals, return to the Root Mother in Ward 13 and you’ll be able to purchase a Dragon Heart upgrade. You’ll then be able to heal yourself one more time between checkpoints before the Dragon Heart loses its power. Try to collect all the Simulacrums in the game to maximise your healing potential!
