THQ Nordic has been snapping up yet more studios: this time it has acquired both Gunfire Games and Milestone.
You’ll know Gunfire Games thanks its work on Darksiders III and the soon to be released Remnant: From the Ashes. It was founded in 2014 by former employees of Vigil Games, and has a history of working alongside THQ Nordic. The acquisition includes all IP rights.
Founded much earlier in 1994, Milestone is known for its racing games rather than the action RPGs that Gunfire Games is associated with. It currently has three yearly franchises – MotoGP, Supercross and MXGP – as well as the bi-yearly RIDE, which is also its own IP. RIDE 4 is set for release in 2020. Additionally, Milestone has three as-yet unannounced IPs which are due to launch in 2021.
With these new additions, THQ Nordic has further expanded its development portfolio which was already bustling. A financial report has today revealed that Volition is deep into development of a new Saints Row game, Dambuster Studios is now leading the development of Dead Island 2, and one of the creators of Timesplitters, Steve Ellis, is helping to plot the future of the franchise. Needless to say, gamers have a lot to look forward to thanks to THQ Nordic. Read the report to find out more things that the company has up its sleeves.
