A new item type that you’ll come across in Borderlands 3 is a weapon trinket. But what exactly is it, and how do you use it? Here’s everything you need to know.
Not long into your journey playing Borderlands 3, you’ll likely loot a strange-looking glowing box off the floor. Labelled simply a ‘weapons trinket’, it doesn’t give you much information about it.
But the weapons trinket is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: it’s a trinket, for your weapon. It serves no purpose other than to add a bit of flair to your gun. It’s basically like a keychain; an emblem that will hang from your weapon to add a bit of personality. You’ll be able to see it in the game on your own weapon, and you’ll be able to see those of the people you’re playing with, too.
To equip a weapons trinket in Borderlands 3, here’s what you need to do.
Once the trinket is in your inventory, head there by pressing the menu button and using the shoulder buttons to toggle to the inventory screen. Select the weapons trinket and press A on Xbox One or X on PS4. This will ‘use’ the trinket and add it to your inventory permanently. Once used, they don’t take up any inventory space.
Then, toggle over to the left-hand side of your inventory screen, where your equipped guns are. To the left-hand side of each gun is a small, empty square. Toggle over to this and press A/X. This will now bring up the list of available trinkets. Select the one you want, and it’ll automatically equip to that weapon.
Handily, trinkets attached to a weapon slot rather than a weapon itself. So if you change or sell a weapon, you don’t have to worry about losing a trinket; it’ll remain tied to that weapon slot until you change it.
