What Devices is Apple Arcade Compatible With?

Apple Arcade

Apple Arcade is coming this week! But not every Apple device will support it – check the list below to see if yours is compatible.

Apple Arcade is a subscription service that allows iOS and iPadOS users instant access to a library of games. With a massive range on offer, it’s already looking like an excellent service, especially if you’re a fan of games. From titles big to small, there’s a huge range of titles on offer, so no matter your preferences, there’s bound to be something you’ll enjoy.

There is, of course, a catch: the £5/$5 a month subscription isn’t going to be available on every Apple device.

To access Apple Arcade, your iPhone or iPad needs to be updated to the latest version of iOS. That’s iOS 13 (or the newly-branded iPadOS if you’re on an iPad). Unfortunately, iOS 13 isn’t available across all devices. So if your Apple device is more than a few years old, you won’t be able to access the service.

Unless you already have the beta, iOS 13/iPad OS rolls out this Thursday to the following devices:

iPads

  • 12.9-inch iPad Pro
  • 11-inch iPad Pro
  • 10.5-inch iPad Pro
  • 9.7-inch iPad Pro
  • iPad (7th generation)
  • iPad (6th generation)
  • iPad (5th generation)
  • iPad mini (5th generation)
  • iPad mini 4
  • iPad Air (3rd generation)
  • iPad Air 2

iPhones/iPods

  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPod touch (7th generation)

If your device doesn’t appear in the lists above, bad luck: you won’t be able to make use of Apple Arcade. Whether Apple will make the service compatible with older devices at some point remains to be seen, but it’s unlikely considering that the games supported by the service will need a certain amount of processing power to run.
