Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is back.
One of the best Call of Duty series has been re-imagined, and thanks to today’s modern technology it looks better than ever. It packs in quite a lot of content, too. There’s a campaign, Spec Ops, and of course a suite of competitive multiplayer modes. But you might be wondering if Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has any co-op features at all, and the answer is: yes it does.
While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s campaign is strictly single-player only, Spec Ops mode allows four players to team up and take down the bad guys together. You’ll make your way around numerous large maps, completing objectives as enemies spawn to make your life harder. And trust us, Spec Ops mode is not easy. The only caveat to Spec Ops mode is that it’s online co-op only. That means if you want to play it with friends they each need their own copy of the game and something to play it on, and also maybe an online subscription. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare does have cross-play, however, so at least everyone doesn’t have to have the game on the same format.
For those who like local co-op, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare does support split-screen play across its multiplayer modes. Two players can squad up and engage in match types such as Team Deathmatch, playing together to take down the opposing team. It’s not ideal with only half of the screen, but it’s handy when you just want a quick game with a friend or family member. You can create private matches with bots, too, if playing against others with only half of a screen is too much of a task.
