Games to Watch Out For This November

November is here, bringing with it the last of the year’s heavy hitters.

While December has some releases worth paying attention to, it’s this month’s offerings that could possibly be some of the biggest of the year. And mixed in among them are some other possibly top notch experiences worth forking out the cash for.

If you like getting friends around for nights of video game filled fun, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020 will probably be right up your street. Packed full of Olympic themed mini-games, the room will get heated as players compete to come out on top. And when you’re all by your lonesome, you can play through the game’s story mode which contains plenty of time hopping. 2 New Super Lucky's Tale

New Super Lucky’s Tale

Release date: 8th November

Move over Mario, Lucky’s making his mark on Switch now. With its colourful visuals and charming cast of characters, New Super Lucky’s Tale is hoping to thrill gamers with its platforming antics. We feel that Super Lucky’s Tale was a bit underappreciated on Xbox One, so hopefully Switch players will give this some love. Watch out for our review near launch.

3 Need for Speed Heat (1)

Need for Speed Heat

Release date: 8th November

Need for Speed is back, and hopefully it’ll be better than ever. Need for Speed Heat seems to be a mish-mash of the games that have come before it, and for that reason it has our attention. We just can’t wait to start customising our cars and outrunning the police during our nighttime escapades again.

4 Death Stranding 2

Death Stranding

Release date: 8th November

The game Hideo Kojima fans have been waiting for. Death Stranding is finally here, though if you’d rather play it on PC you’ll have to wait until next year. Are you ready to guide Norman Reedus, sorry, Sam Porter Bridges, across America to reconnect a fractured world? We are. Even if only for what is sure to be one hell of a crazy story.

Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy

The Professor Layton series continues, though this time it has a new protagonist. Putting you in control of Katrielle Layton, Layton’s Mystery Journey Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy has been available on iOS, Android and 3DS for quite a while. This November it finally becomes available on Switch, however, and is bound to win itself some new fans.

If Mario & Sonic at the Olympics: Tokyo 2020 doesn’t provide enough mini-game antics for you this month, then be happy that Disney Tsum Tsum Festival is also being released. Featuring games such as curling and bubble hockey, you’ll be able to take control of a wide number of Disney and Pixar characters in Tsum Tsum form. Needless to say, it’ll probably be great for kids, and pretty much anyone who loves Disney.

Ever wondered what it would be like to be a bee for a short while? You have?! Well, November’s going to be good month for you. Bee Simulator lets you experience a slice of life as a bee. You’ll have to fight to defend your swarm, gather pollen, and also engage in races. Okay, so perhaps Bee Simulator is taking liberties with some of its activities: we’re sure bees don’t go around racing through checkpoints in real life. Still, it’s bound to be entertaining.

Pokémon Sword and Shield

It’s the game (or rather games) that Pokémon fans have been waiting for. Pokémon Sword and Shield arrive on Switch this month, challenging players to catch ’em all once again. Go on an epic adventure, acquire new Pokemon, then train them to be the best so you can defeat all challengers. This is going to be big.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Could Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order be the best Star Wars game ever made? Who knows! But we’ve not got long until we find out. A single-player game with Metroidvania structure, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order puts players in control of Padawan Cal Kestis as he takes on the Galactic Empire.  We just can’t wait to “Use the Force!”.

10 Terminator: Resistance

Terminator: Resistance

Release date: 15th November (3rd December in North America)
Formats: PS4, Xbox One and PC

Have you seen Terminator: Dark Fate yet? We haven’t, but we’ll surely be checking it out before be play Terminator: Resistance. Previous Terminator games haven’t been great, we know, but it gives us hope that Terminator: Resistance might avoid some of the mistakes that previous games have made. In any case, it’ll let us shoot imposing robots in the face, so we’ll be happy to some degree.

Shenmue III

Release date: 19th November

Many people thought that Shenmue III would never happen, but here we are. Carry on Ryo Hazuki’s story and rediscover the magic of the Shenmue series. Reconnect with characters from previous instalments and explore new areas. Ryo is back, and it seems like he’s got some more games ahead of him providing Shenmue III lives up to expectations.

12 sniper: ghost warrior contracts

Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts

Release date: 22nd November
Formats: PS4, Xbox One and PC

After the disappointing Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, CI Games is coming back strong with Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts. The massive open world is gone, replaced with five smaller areas that are still big but more focused, and your futuristic mask allows you to make use of special abilities that give you the edge. We’ll have a preview up for Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts soon, but it’s safe to say that’s going to be a game you want to keep your eyes on.
