The Sinking City Gets a Performance Patch on Consoles

Frogwares has now put out a performance patch for The Sinking City on consoles, with some free bonus DLC thrown in as an apology to the players.

Lovecraftian horror adventure The Sinking City had some teething issues when it was released earlier this year, with many players experiencing framerate drops, stuttering and glitches, especially on the PS4, Xbox One and Switch.

Frogwares has finally released a performance patch on consoles to fix these issues, and to apologise for the long wait, the team has also included two free character outfits – the “Vacationist” and the “Unburdened Newcomer”.

“We’re very sorry for the delay on these patches,” said The Sinking City‘s producer Serge Chervonnyi. “We’re not the biggest team so collecting as many instances of where the game’s performance was taking a hit to really understand the issues took much longer than expected.”

He went on to say: “We’re really sorry for the wait but hope the fixes plus the additional outfits can now let console players who were holding off on playing dive back into the game.”

The patch also includes some general gameplay enhancements, including new sounds effects, visuals and animations for weapons. All of these enhancements will also soon be coming to the PC version of The Sinking City, plus some additional platform-specific fixes.

The Sinking City is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
