Does Death Stranding Require a PlayStation Plus Subscription?

Death Stranding 2

Do you need Playstation Plus to use Death Stranding’s online features? Here’s what you need to know.

Death Stranding is a thoroughly mind-bending game. Spawned from the brain-pan of Hideo Kojima, this open-world adventure has you reconnecting America by acting as a pan-continental delivery man. It’s mildly disappointing that you can’t just hoof your deliveries over a fence, then shove a tattered card through the letterbox, but Death Stranding is still a lot of fun.

But do you need a Playstation Plus subscription to use Death Stranding‘s online features?

The answer is, gladly, no – having a PlayStation Plus subscription doesn’t give you any benefits in Death Stranding, either. The game’s online system has more in common with Dark Souls than it does with competitive games such as Fortnite or Call of Duty. Even if you don’t have PlayStation Plus, you can still get likes when the shortcuts you’ve created appear in other players’ worlds. You can’t beat other players to death with a ladder but you can show your appreciate that their efforts have saved you a little time.

Besides, does Death Stranding really need an army of Norman Reeduses (Norman Reedi?) running around? It’s a strictly solitary experience and is best enjoyed as such. Happy piss-grenade throwing!
