How to Whistle in Pokémon Sword and Shield

Want to whistle in Pokémon Sword and Shield to catch something’s attention? Here’s how to do it.

You don’t need to whistle in Pokémon Sword and Shield, but it’s a handy thing to be able to do. While out in the world, whistling will attract the attention of any nearby Pokémon. If you want to ensure you get in a battle, whistling is the way to do it.

Whistling is also helpful in pulling smaller Pokémon out of tall grass so you can see what type they are before engaging in battle.

You can whistle at any point in Pokémon Sword and Shield, providing you’re outside of menus and battle: simply press in the left stick.

You can whistle as many times as you want, so go let rip and attract those Pokémon! Note that there’s a limited range on your whistle: Pokémon too far away won’t hear it, so it won’t have any effect on them. It’s especially handy for flying type Pokémon though, as whistling pulls them closer to the ground to allow you to engage in battle with them.

If you’re riding your bike, pressing the left stick in will instead ring your bicycle’s bell, but it has the same effect.
