The Division 2 adds Santa hats and snow cannons in its festive “Situation: Snowball” event, and a new update brings a hardcore permadeath mode.
Title Update 6.1 launches for Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 today, December 10th, bringing a little bit of festive cheer to post-outbreak Washington DC.
This update marks the start of the Situation: Snowball holiday event, which will give players a free Santa hat if they log in before January 7th. Some elusive enemies are wearing bright red christmas hats of their own, and killing these special enemies can drop a new weapon, the “Sleigher”, which launches snowballs.
The latest title update will fix a number of issues and make various quality-of-life improvements to the game, but perhaps the most exciting new feature is the beta for a new hardcore mode. This mode will feature permadeath, meaning that full completion of The Division 2‘s campaign will be the ultimate challenge for experienced agents.
Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia. You can head over to the game’s official website for a more detailed breakdown of Title Update 6.1.
